CarGurus LLC is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer in Consumer Commerce to shape AI-powered experiences for our high-traffic site. You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and drive multi-team AI initiatives from concept to production at scale.

You will work with Product, UX, and Analytics to deliver trustworthy vehicle information and AI-powered interactions, while upholding CarGurus’ standards for innovation and user-centric design.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience architecting resilient, scalable systems and leading technical direction across multiple teams.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, and LangFuse in Python and with platform/infrastructure layers of AI systems.
• Experience building APIs and REST services and delivering production AI experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy consumer-facing experiences at scale, up to 45 million monthly visitors.
• Serve as AI expert and advisor for Consumer AI projects, guiding architecture and implementation.
• Steer platform decisions for AI deployments, including storage, memory, and observability.
• Evaluate AI frameworks and develop proofs-of-concept to validate approaches.
• Build and operate systems using LangChain, LangGraph, LangFuse in Python for agentic apps.
• Drive adoption of fully agentic programming and defined engineering patterns.
• Mentor engineers and shape roadmaps for consumer initiatives.
• Lead workshops and document ADRs and best practices across teams.
