Senior Premium Auditor(Workers' Compensation)|100% Remote Opportunity

General Summary

Under minimal supervision, determine the premium base for each risk of assigned accounts by performing remote telephone premium audits of insured’s records, verifying the operations performed, ascertaining proper classifications, and allocating payroll and appropriate subcontracted amounts in accordance with home state manual rules, state regulations and company standards.Typically conducts the most complex physical premium audits. Physical Auditors are responsible for truing up in excess of $2.5M in premium each year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using independent judgment, prioritize and schedule assigned audits.
  • Review audit case information and obtain required payroll and premium documentation from policyholders. Conduct remote telephone or on-site physical premium audits –
  • Audit insured’s payroll records, financial statements and tax records
  • Conduct entrance and exit interviews with policyholders to gather information and discuss premium audit results.
  • Visually inspect worksite(s) to validate classifications as appropriate.
  • Analyze and review claims to verify employment, proper classification coding and proper allocation of payroll.
  • Prepare a compressive premium audit report in compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Report changes in policy information, financial condition, operations or any fact that may affect the insurability of the policyholder.
  • Complete assigned work within established company standards for quality and production.
  • Respond to audit questions and disputes in a timely manner.
  • Regularly utilize internal systems to complete premium audits.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of manual rules, state regulations, and company standards and procedures. Remain up to date with relevant premium audit and insurance industry changes.
  • Include average inventory EAP (~$5.4M) and average policy size ($28K) (Consequences of errors discussion)
  • Mentor and train other auditors as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of prior experience in workers’ compensation premium audit applying either WCIRB or NCCI rules and regulations or equivalent experience required.
  • Working knowledge of home state manual rules (WCIRB or NCCI) and applicable state exceptions.
  • Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Intermediate computer skills including ability to use spreadsheets, e-mail and 10-key by touch.
  • The ability to effectively convey complex information to policyholders, agents/brokers, and internal customers using strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret and comprehend a variety of payroll and other financial/business documents.
  • Exceptional time management skills to manage workload and related administrative tasks.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Certification

  • APA, CPCU, or other designations preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field, equivalent experience or a combination of education and experience required.

Work Environment

  • Remote: This role is a remote (work from home (WFH) opportunity) and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to workwithoutsponsorship.
  • It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace.
  • Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
  • Travel: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to attend meetings, as necessary
