SENIOR PREMIUM AUDITOR - SUNZ INSURANCE SOLUTIONS

Reports to: Director of Audit & Billing

Position Summary: Position requires an experienced insurance professional who will, under broad supervision, engage with policyholders to collect payroll data and other relevant information used to complete workers’ compensation policy audits. These activities will result in the accurate determination of the final premium basis of these insurance policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Remotely conduct workers’ compensation premium audits of large Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s), staffing companies and other insureds. This includes collecting, examining, verifying, correcting and recording pertinent payroll and classification-related data from financial/business records and interviews.
  • Properly apply risk classification codes and other rules impacting the basis of premium in accordance with state rating organization manuals (i.e. NCCI Basic Manual, Scopes Manual and similar publications in other non-NCCI states).
  • Effectively manage audit inventory to ensure that audits are completed timely and meet required deadlines.
  • Document all customer interactions to ensure that the reason(s) for any audit delays are understood and can be justified.
  • Maintain positive customer relations through the professional communication of any observed questions, issues or complications.
  • Promote the mutual understanding of applicable rules and reason(s) for any potential changes in the premium basis.
  • Utilize laptop computer, Microsoft Excel (or other designated audit software) to record and transmit audit information in a timely manner.
  • Remain informed of changes and current industry related information through discussion and correspondence with coworkers, peers, industry reference guides and bulletins as well as customer SOPs.

Minimum Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience in a workers’ compensation technical role demonstrating skills in classification code assignment and understanding of insurance manual rules related to the basis of premium. Premium auditing experience is preferred. Must be able to complete work in a timely manner. Must have proficiently in basic computer skills, with past experience utilizing Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and interpretive skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player. Must be able to work independently.

Communication Skills

Conducts all types of communication in a professional manner. Effective with making complex technical information and recommendations understandable and clear to audiences with varied levels of technical knowledge. Listens effectively. Clearly expresses ideas, recommendations, etc. in writing.

Customer Service

Responds timely and concisely with all communication. Builds credibility with policyholders being audited. Understands appropriate information to share with customers.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a work-from-home environment, although occasional travel to the SUNZ office and/or for visits to policyholders, agents or brokers in

certain situations.

Physical Demands

  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer
  • Occasional, but infrequent, in-person interactions with SUNZ staff, policyholders, agents/brokers

Travel

While this position is primarily in a work-from-home environment, occasional overnight travel may also be required for this position. This is estimated to be less than 2 weeks per year.

Preferred Licensing

APA or CPCU certifications are helpful, but not required.
