Murphy Company in St. Louis, Missouri, invites a Preconstruction Manager to join our Construction Operations team.

The role develops conceptual budgets, negotiates projects, and leads preconstruction from pursuit to turnover, collaborating with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. The ideal candidate has extensive mechanical construction experience, strong budgeting and design-build/design-assist delivery knowledge, and proven client relationship management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years in preconstruction, estimating, design, cost control, or project development in mechanical construction.
• Experience with design-build and design-assist project delivery methods.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• LEED Accreditation or PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed budget estimates for HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and sheet metal systems.
• Analyze drawings, narratives, specifications, and project requirements to provide pricing and scope.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors to develop cost-effective mechanical solutions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and constructability improvements.
• Coordinate mechanical design efforts and integration with project teams.
• Support LEED and sustainability initiatives when applicable.
• Mentor team members and support professional development.
• Stay current on construction trends, technologies, regulations, and market conditions.
