HQC US offers comprehensive PV solutions, from core technology to large-scale project development and investment, minimizing risks and maximizing returns for customers in renewable energy.

Summary

The Sr Preconstruction Manager (East) will oversee internal self-perform preconstruction projects and play a key role in enabling the company's vision to be a leading solar solution provider in the Americas. This role involves leading preconstruction project management efforts for MW-scale ground mount PV and ESS power plants, reporting to the Associate Director of Preconstruction Projects (East) or another designated senior manager. The position is remote (except in Ankeny, IA), working hours are Monday-Friday, with potential overtime and travel up to 25%.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Manage multiple utility-scale solar projects through the preconstruction lifecycle, fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Estimation and Cost Management: Coordinate with estimating teams, review project cost estimates, and ensure alignment with project scope.
  • Project Planning and Risk Evaluation: Develop project execution plans, identify risks, and collaborate on schedules and activity relationships.
  • EPC Contract Management: Lead drafting efforts for LNTPs, collaborate on contracts, and participate in negotiations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with clients, engineers, regulators, and community partners to facilitate project success and foster relationships.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering, construction, or related fields.
  • Proven success in designing and building large-scale solar projects, preferably in the Americas.
  • Deep knowledge of renewable power plant development, engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Experience with project developers and RFP processes.
  • Ability to identify project risks and manage large technical teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Stationary position, occasional movement, light lifting, frequent communication, visual requirements, and occasional climbing.
  • Work environment includes office and construction sites with varying noise levels.
