Job summary

The Beck Group is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer in Denver to support the team leader with preconstruction duties for projects up to $5M. You will deliver accurate quantity takeoffs, develop estimates using DESTINI tools, and coordinate with BIM360 and Procore across MasterFormat scopes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction/preconstruction experience.
  • College graduate with a relevant degree.
  • Experience with estimating software; DESTINI Profiler/Estimator a plus.
  • Willingness to grow technical competencies.
  • Primary software usage includes DESTINI Estimator for core estimating and BIM360 for model-based estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate quantity takeoffs and initial pricing.
  • Independently estimate interior, envelope, site, and structure scopes.
  • Organize and develop an estimate using UniFormat, MasterFormat, and bid tabulation.
  • Develop and maintain project documents in an organized structure.
  • Utilize preconstruction tools and BIM technologies daily.
  • Participate in bid days with accurate and reliable processes.
  • Interact professionally with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Mentor preconstruction engineers and interns.
  • Deliver preconstruction deliverable content with supporting details and graphics.

Job description

Position Overview

Senior Preconstruction Engineer – support the team leader with preconstruction duties for projects or scopes of work ranging from $0M to $5M in size with oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate quantity takeoffs and initial pricing.
  • Independently estimate interior, envelope, site, and structure scopes of work with minimal direction and understand applicable specification sections.
  • Organize and develop an estimate using UniFormat, MasterFormat (49 divisions), and a bid tabulation.
  • Develop and maintain project‑related documents (estimates, drawings/models, and other materials) in a consistent, organized structure.
  • Command preconstruction technologies such as DESTINI Estimator, Revit, BIM360, Procore, MS Office suite, Bluebeam, and Power BI.
  • Perform bid day process accurately and reliably.
  • Understand basic scheduling and lead times.
  • Interact professionally with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Assist in the pre‑qualification of subcontractors and vendors and manage the subcontractor database.
  • Regularly administer one or more BIM tools in daily practice.
  • Supervise and mentor preconstruction engineers and interns.
  • Execute overhead, fee, and insurance add‑ons, and billable wage rates and benefits.
  • Participate in presentations to clients.
  • Deliver preconstruction deliverable content, including cost estimates, supporting details, documentation, and graphics, in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate excellence in daily responsibilities while expressing flexibility in the means and methods deployed to help the organization achieve its goals.
Ideal Candidate

A person willing to learn and be mentored under senior preconstruction managers. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of building construction, excellent time‑management and organizational skills, and the drive to get things done. Must act with uncompromising authenticity and integrity, have interest in integrated project delivery, collaborate with design team members, and seek innovation in process improvement and technology.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of relevant construction and/or preconstruction experience.
  • College graduate with a relevant degree.
  • Mandatory experience with estimating software and technology; experience with DESTINI Profiler or DESTINI Estimator is a plus.
  • Willingness to grow technical competencies.
  • Primary software usage must include DESTINI Estimator for core estimating functions, 2D on‑screen quantity‑takeoff functions, and BIM360 for model‑based integrated estimating.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Procore, Revit, and Power BI.
Physical Demands

Frequent computer use and office productivity equipment; must ascend and descend ladders and stairs; must work outdoors in varying weather conditions; must lift up to 50 lbs; must communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and team members; must navigate uneven surfaces; must spend the majority of the day standing; must maintain consistent and timely attendance.
