Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Senior Precision Stage Architect to own the end-to-end architecture of high-precision motion stages and their mechatronic subsystems.

You will define the control system architecture, establish performance targets, and guide a multidisciplinary team including electrical, firmware, and software engineers. BS in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics or Controls with 10–15+ years of experience is expected, with MS preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Controls required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of system engineering, control theory, servo/feedback design, and multi-axis motion control.
• Hands-on mechatronic co-design — system identification, dynamic modeling, control-loop tuning, feedforward design.

Responsibilities

• Owns the end-to-end architecture of high-precision motion stages and their mechatronic subsystems.
• Defines the control system architecture for precision stages — servo loop topology and sensor/actuator choices.
• Sets and drives the technical direction for stage controls and performance targets.
• Leads the multidisciplinary team and coordinates with electrical, firmware, and software groups.
• Builds prototypes or hires suppliers and tests for compliance with specifications.
