Job summary

PROPWR seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead design, integration, and validation of electrical systems across its equipment platforms. You will create integration drawings, troubleshooting procedures, and provide SME support for field operations.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop comprehensive documentation, and lead testing programs to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑performance power systems before deployment. Travel to the Permian Basin and Houston is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years’ experience with electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of NEC.
• Familiar with NESC and NFPA 70E.
• Experience in developing electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams.
• Experience with AC systems up to 15kV and DC systems up to 120V.
• Experience with reciprocating generators or turbines.
• Root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Experience in field operations and troubleshooting medium voltage equipment.
• Proficient with electrical measurement devices and tools.
• Proficient with Visio/SmartDraw or equivalent diagramming tools.
• Electrical CAD software experience.
• Proficient in MS Office and related software.
• Strong ownership and collaboration ethic.
• Willing to train teammates and drive continuous improvement.
• Willingness to travel to Permian Basin and Houston.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and testing of electrical systems and subsystems across PROPWR equipment.
• Develop milestones and track progress to objectives.
• Serve as SME for system integration testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
• Lead power systems engineering projects and initiatives.
• Develop system and subsystem level documentation.
• Create and maintain diagrams and technical resources (troubleshooting, SOPs, single-line diagrams, training, integration testing).
• Design medium voltage cable assemblies and interconnections.
• Provide in-field engineering support and troubleshooting.
• Interact with vendors and third-party suppliers.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers in power systems design and tools.
• Collaborate with PROPWR and ProPetro stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies.
• Develop training material and deliver technical presentations.
• Maintain HSE compliance and PPE usage.

Job Summary

The Senior Power Systems Engineer is a key technical leader within ProPetro’s PROPWR organization, responsible for the design, integration, and validation of electrical systems across multiple equipment platforms. This includes developing documentation that outlines troubleshooting procedures for field employees, creating integration drawings for electrical systems, and providing remote support to personnel needing SME assistance for equipment in operation. The Senior Power Systems Engineer also leads testing programs, ensuring all systems are thoroughly evaluated and verified prior to field deployment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and high‑performance electrical systems across the PROPWR fleet.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration, and testing of electrical systems and sub‑systems across various PROPWR equipment types.
• Develop milestones and track progress to achieve objectives.
• Serve as the SME for system integration testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
• Act as the lead on various power systems engineering projects and initiatives.
• Develop documentation on a system and sub‑system level.
• Create and maintain diagrams and technical resources, including:
• Troubleshooting
• Equipment SOP’s
• Single‑line diagrams
• Equipment training
• Integration testing
• Design medium voltage cable assemblies and interconnection methods.
• Provide sustained engineering and troubleshooting of equipment operating in‑field.
• Interact with vendors and third‑party suppliers.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers on power systems design principles, analysis tools, and project management practices.
• Partner and collaborate with various stakeholders within PROPWR and ProPetro.
• Identifying potential technical risks and developing mitigation strategies.
• Develop training material and delivering technical presentations, as required.
• Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent degree required.
• 7‑years’ experience with electrical systems, required.
• Great understanding of the NEC.
• Knowledgeable of the NESC and NFPA 70E.
• Experience in the development of electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams
• Worked on AC systems up to 15kV and DC systems up to 120V.
• Experience with recip generators or turbines, strongly preferred.
• Perform root cause analysis and provide corrective actions.
• Experience working in field operations and troubleshooting medium voltage equipment.
• Skilled with electrical measurement devices, instrumentation and tooling.
• Proven project management skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Proficient with Visio, SmartDraw or similar diagramming tools.
• Experience with electrical CAD software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and wide variety of software programs.
• Possess extreme sense of ownership and highly collaborative.
• Willing to train team members and dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Responsive, action‑oriented and agile in decision making.
• Willingness to travel within the Permian Basin (West Texas and Southeast New Mexico) and Houston as needed.
