Xcel Energy, a leading utility, is seeking a Power Systems Modeling Engineer for the Distribution group within Integrated System Planning. The role focuses on maintaining power flow models, validating data, and supporting hosting capacity analyses and grid modernization efforts.

A bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited) and experience in distribution planning are required, with strong preference for EIT/FE and open-source modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited.
• Minimum 2+ years of engineering experience; 5+ years preferred with EIT/FE; 7+ years without EIT/FE.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date power flow models as data and conditions change.
• Ensure data quality and validate models.
• Support hosting capacity analyses and grid modernization efforts.
• Coordinate with regulators and stakeholders on planning studies.
