Job summary

CyrusOne is seeking a Senior Manager of Power Strategy to lead energy origination and procurement initiatives for its data center portfolio. You will analyze tariffs, coordinate with utilities, and negotiate energy supply contracts while advancing renewable energy and carbon-free strategies.

The role involves portfolio-wide site analysis, cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Construction and Operations, and steering commissioning strategies to limit ratchets.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years experience with transmission, distribution, and energy supply origination/procurement.
• Experience with tariff analysis and utility contract reviews.
• Experience with Renewables and Carbon Free Power.
• Experience with utility negotiations, processes, and agreements.
• Strong understanding of the transmission and distribution grid and the ability to analyze its supply.
• Financial or energy engineering experience.
• Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders.
• Experience with communication including communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Identify areas of power availability for data center site development.
• Support contract activities for substations and transmission extensions.
• Track progress with utilities to optimize timelines for substation builds.
• Lead contract review and negotiations for transmission, distribution, and energy supply.
• Assist Energy Origination/Procurement in deregulated markets.
• Work with teams to forecast energy rates and assess supply contracts performance.
• Analyze customer growth by region to craft origination/procurement strategies.
• Perform tariff reviews/analysis in regulated markets.
• Assist with energy hedging activities.
• Track renewable energy credits and carbon management.
• Originate/negotiate renewable energy opportunities in various markets.
• Implement and enhance a sustainable power strategy.
• Analyze power at prospective sites including tariffs and capacity.
• Mock bill analysis and cross-functional support across Sales, Construction, Operations.
