Job summary

Calpine, a major power generator, seeks an Operations and Maintenance Technician III for Wilmington, DE. You will maintain and operate plant equipment, read blueprints, and coordinate with teams to ensure continuous service.

Requirements include a high school or vocational education, 4+ years in power plant maintenance or related education, and the ability to pass EEI TECH tests. Valid driver's license and TWIC credentials within six months are required.

Qualifications

• High School or Vocational School education.
• Must have at least four (4) years' experience in power plant maintenance or operations or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial facility materials practices preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Safety awareness and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Decision making and problem solving skills.
• Team-oriented, cooperative, and safety-conscious.
• Valid driver's license at all times.
• Ability to pass EEI TECH qualification tests.
• Ability to talk, walk, stand, sit, stoop, reach, climb, crawl, lift heavy items, and distinguish colors.
• Must obtain TWIC credentials within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision regularly performs and/or assists in maintenance and operation of plant equipment.
• Oversees work of others at top progression level and may supervise contract personnel when needed.
• Reads blueprints, manuals, and documents for proper operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
• Maintains safety and housekeeping standards; ensures continuity of service.
• Reads and communicates information across shifts; coordinates turnover.
• Works inside or outside as required and may schedule overtime.
