Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET program and/or PE required
  • Professional Engineer licensure required (current)
  • Master's degree in Engineering may substitute for BS
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience
  • Extensive knowledge of power plant design and processes (high energy steam systems, HRSGs, turbines, pumps, condensers, cooling towers, chillers)
  • 8+ years of power plant experience with emphasis on operations and project execution in the utility industry
  • Strong understanding of engineering theories and principles
  • Experience with EPC contractors
  • Experience researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, and presenting recommendations
  • Familiarity with ASME PTC 22, ASME B31.1, ASME BPVC Section 1
  • Experience with system modeling software (Thermoflex, Fathom, Arrow) and thermal performance analysis
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, decision making, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Project-related work experience in risk management, project leadership, collaboration, and oversight
  • Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without immigration sponsorship
  • Travel required: 15–25%

Responsibilities

  • Lead specialist-level engineering guidance and leadership
  • Work independently on complex problems with minimal supervision
  • Support all phases of major projects from scoping to close-out
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor engineering work
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering problems, assessing costs and long-term impacts
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Conduct engineering studies and coordinate complex projects
  • Develop major project scopes and EPC bid packages
  • Support cost estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, bid evaluation, and contract development
  • Provide engineering oversight for project contracts, design criteria, applicable codes, standards, and permits
  • Participate in design and drawing reviews, construction support, RFI resolution, commissioning, performance testing, and warranty support
  • Build positive internal and external relationships and maintain accurate records and files
  • Stay current on developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
  • Coach and mentor engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals
  • Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
