Job summary

Renesas Electronics in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Power Application Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge digital power management solutions within an embedded SOC context. You will translate market needs into product definitions and engage across disciplines to shape design specifications for high-performance VR systems powering data-center workloads.

The role requires a strong background in multiphase DC/DC converters, firmware-enabled power products, and lab automation to validate

Qualifications

MS in Engineering or technical equivalent.
10+ years in power management.
Experience with firmware-enabled PM and large-scale DC/DC systems.
Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters powering SoC systems.
Knowledge of control loops in power converters.
Proficiency with lab equipment and automation.
Ability to analyze customer needs and define product requirements.

Responsibilities

Translate market understanding to product definition and market adoption.
Support technical marketing through global customer visits.
Provide analysis showing technical merit of Renesas solutions vs competitors.
Produce detailed Product Requirements Documents to support design specs.
Work with design engineering when conflicts arise between requirements, capabilities and business expectations.
Participate in FPGA-based design prototyping to verify key features and functions.
Work with design staff to find solutions when targets are not met.
Guide staff in creating Applications Validation Plans using experience to cover corner cases.
Develop valuable IP by finding unique solutions to critical customer problems.
Interface with key ASIC suppliers to understand requirements and align in development.
Provide deep technical support and training to advance Renesas's commercial success.
