Job summary

Thermo Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager for Power Generation Design to lead a multidisciplinary team on generation projects. You will develop engineers, plan resources, oversee design quality and schedules, and set standards for drawings and specifications.

The role involves coordinating with project teams from design through startup, with up to 50% travel and remote work options. A PE license is preferred, with strong background in electrical/energy disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering experience with leadership.
• Experience managing engineering deliverables on complex industrial/energy projects.
• Knowledge of design, specifications, codes, standards, and quality review processes.
• PE license or ability to obtain one (preferred).
• Power generation facility design experience is a plus.
• Experience with protection, control systems, SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, hire, and develop engineers and designers; set expectations for technical quality and delivery.
• Oversee engineering drawings, criteria, equipment and construction specifications; ensure compliance with codes and client needs.
• Establish design standards, templates, review practices, and quality controls across disciplines.
• Plan staffing and schedules; monitor progress, resolve technical issues, address risks.
• Provide technical direction for generation and distribution systems (generators, gas turbines, transformers, switchgear, controls, balance‑of‑plant).
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, vendors, procurement, field teams, and commissioning to resolve issues and incorporate lessons learned.
• Support project estimates, scopes of work, and proposals.
