Job summary

Amador County is seeking a Power Equipment Mechanic II to inspect, diagnose, overhaul, and repair gasoline and diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment. The role provides lead direction and training for other staff, including supervision of subordinates and temporary workers.

Qualifications

Two (2) years of skilled heavy equipment repair work at the level of Power Equipment Mechanic I with Amador County.
Possession of a valid and current California Driver's License.
Class A CDL with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide lead direction and training for staff in automotive and diesel-powered equipment maintenance.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide range of equipment including graders, dozers, rollers, trucks, and backhoes.
Estimate repair costs and requisition parts for automotive and diesel-powered equipment.
Maintain records and prepare reports on repairs and maintenance.
Implement shop safety practices and discuss progress with supervisors and attend meetings.
