Job summary

Mind Robotics is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer in Palo Alto to own the robot’s power architecture end to end, from compute and actuation power rails to the motor inverters. You will define topology choices, device tech, and supplier strategies while staying hands-on through bring-up and validation.

You will collaborate with compute, actuation, and controls teams to meet density, thermal, cost, and reliability targets, mentoring engineers and setting design standards across hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Has owned a product’s power architecture that other teams built against.
• Deep expertise in power distribution or inverter power stages.
• Strong DC-DC design skills, including topology, magnetics and loop compensation, plus current sensing and protection circuits.
• Strong high-current layout, EMI/EMC, bring-up and measurement skills, including double-pulse testing and gate-drive characterization.
• Experience with harnesses, connectors, volume manufacturing and contract manufacturers.
• Has set design standards adopted beyond their own team.
• Strong plus: EtherCAT and GaN/SiC experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the robot’s power architecture end to end, from distribution to motor inverters.
• Set priorities against power density, thermal, cost and reliability targets.
• Make topology, device tech and supplier strategy calls and commit power specs to the program.
• Set design standards for derating, layout, EMI, protection and validation; lead design reviews.
• Stay hands-on with distribution networks, inverter stages, DC-DC, sensing and protection.
• Deliver high power density within tight thermal limits from design to bring-up and validation.
• Own the power side of firmware and telemetry interfaces (EtherCAT, PMBus, I2C, SPI).
• Manage fabricators and suppliers for delivery and second sourcing.
