Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a senior engineer to simulate and design electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects of power electronics converters for industrial applications. You will lead cross-functional teams, design new inverters and converters, and develop control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink.

Travel to client sites will be required. The role requires a Master’s degree and 6+ years in power electronics, with strong experience in VFD systems and end-to-end project execution.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Six years of experience in power electronics hardware design or controls development.
  • Experience with variable frequency drive (VFD) systems including design, testing and commissioning.
  • Hardware design for power electronics including calculations, modeling, and component selection.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS for design and validation.
  • End-to-end project lifecycle experience including bidding, design, commissioning and after-sales service.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate and design electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects of power electronics converters.
  • Collaborate with Design Office and Manufacturing; produce comprehensive documentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and validate low- and medium-voltage power electronics.
  • Design new Voltage Source Inverters (IGBT or SiC) and Thyristor converters (Rectifier LCI).
  • Develop control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink and related tools.
  • Conduct simulations and validation using MATLAB, Simulink, PLECS, and PSPICE.
  • Support project execution from bidding to commissioning and after-sales service.
