Job summary

BIP US is seeking an experienced Senior BI Engineer to drive a major BI modernization project, migrating legacy MicroStrategy reporting to Microsoft Power BI.

This hands-on role requires 10+ years in BI/Analytics, expert Power BI skills, and the ability to execute complex migrations end-to-end in a financial services environment. Hybrid/remote options offered with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of BI/Analytics Engineering experience.
• Expert Power BI skills incl. semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query, RLS, deployment pipelines.
• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
• Proven experience with enterprise BI migration or modernization programs.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, reconciliation, lineage, and reporting controls.
• Ability to work independently and drive complex initiatives to completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of MicroStrategy reports, dossiers, metrics, attributes, and semantic models to Power BI.
• Design scalable Power BI architecture (workspaces, semantic models, RLS, datasets, deployment pipelines).
• Translate legacy BI logic into DAX and Power Query while preserving accuracy.
• Reconcile and validate migrated reports against legacy outputs and source data.
• Partner with Data Engineering and business teams across Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, and Operations.
• Create reusable migration patterns, documentation, and Power BI training materials for end users.
• Track migration progress, dependencies, and stakeholder sign-off using Jira.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate migration, testing, and documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Engineer to support a strategic enterprise BI modernization initiative focused on migrating legacy MicroStrategy reporting and analytics capabilities to Microsoft Power BI.

This is a hands-on role for a senior engineer who can independently drive report conversion, semantic model design, validation, deployment, and user enablement in a complex financial-services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead migration of MicroStrategy reports, dossiers, metrics, attributes, and semantic models to Power BI.


• Design scalable Power BI architecture, including workspaces, semantic models, RLS, certified datasets, and deployment pipelines.


• Translate legacy BI logic into DAX and Power Query (M) while maintaining reporting accuracy and business consistency.


• Reconcile and validate migrated reports against legacy outputs and underlying source data.


• Partner with Data Engineering and business teams across Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, and Operations.


• Build reusable migration patterns, documentation, and Power BI training materials for end users.


• Track migration progress, dependencies, and stakeholder sign-off through Agile delivery tools such as Jira.


• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate migration, testing, documentation, and analysis.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of BI / Analytics Engineering experience


• Expert-level Power BI skills, including semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query, RLS, and deployment pipelines


• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms


• Proven experience with enterprise BI migration or modernization programs


• Strong understanding of data modeling, reconciliation, lineage, and reporting controls


• Ability to work independently and drive complex initiatives to completion

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on MicroStrategy experience, including reports, dossiers, metrics, attributes, semantic models, or REST APIs


• Experience migrating MicroStrategy to Power BI


• Asset Management, Investment Management, Capital Markets, or Financial Services background


• Familiarity with investment data such as positions, transactions, pricing, security master, portfolios, and risk data


• Experience with AI-assisted tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor

**The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $190,000**
