Job summary

Dexian seeks a senior Power BI developer to lead and enhance the organization’s BI capabilities from Washington, DC. The role focuses on designing high-performance reports and dashboards, establishing data governance, and mentoring the BI team.

You’ll work with on-prem Oracle and cloud data sources, build semantic models and star schemas, and enforce best practices for data security and access control.

Position Summary

A senior-level Power BI developer is sought to lead and enhance the organization's business intelligence capabilities. This role involves designing and developing high-performance reports and dashboards, establishing and enforcing data governance standards, and providing mentorship to the BI team. The candidate will work with diverse data sources, including both on-premises and cloud platforms, to deliver intuitive analytics solutions that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize Power BI reports, dashboards, and paginated reports to deliver actionable insights.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to define KPIs, dimensions, and fact tables.
• Build semantic layers and star schemas to facilitate high-performance analysis.
• Establish and enforce best practices for data modeling, governance, security, and access control.
• Work with on-premise Oracle data sources and cloud-based data on platforms such as data bricks.
• Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to BI developers and analysts.
• Define standards for data security, including row-level security and data masking.

Required Qualifications

• Expertise in Power BI, data modeling, and DAX.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, and query optimization.
• 7-10 years of experience in a senior BI role.
• Ability to act as a lead or senior contributor within a team.
• Experience working with both on-premises Oracle databases and cloud data sources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building semantic layers and star schemas for analytics.
• Knowledge of data governance, including security and access control best practices.
• Familiarity with the Azure cloud stack.
• Proven ability to mentor and provide architectural guidance within a BI team.
