Job summary

Hyring® is seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to lead the design, development, testing, and automation of end-to-end business intelligence solutions. This role will focus on building scalable Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, data pipelines, and reusable data assets.

Responsibilities

Location: Charlotte, NC -preferred; Irving, TX as a second option

Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite and 2 days remote

Employment Type: Contract with potential conversion to permanent employment

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to lead the design, development, testing, and automation of end-to-end business intelligence solutions. This role will focus on building scalable Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, data pipelines, and reusable data assets.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Power BI, data integration, data modeling, ETL development, Python, and GitHub. This individual should be self-driven, able to manage complex projects independently, mentor junior developers, and communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
• Automate data validation, testing, and user acceptance testing processes.
• Automate data refreshes, monitoring, error handling, and data quality controls.
• Design, build, and maintain automated ETL pipelines supporting Power BI solutions.
• Integrate and transform data from multiple enterprise sources using scalable ingestion patterns.
• Develop reusable data assets to support self-service analytics.
• Optimize Power BI data models, semantic models, metadata, and business definitions.
• Implement data quality, data lineage, security, and governance controls.
• Support AI-driven analytics and natural language query capabilities through optimized semantic models.
• Use Python and GitHub to support automation, version control, and development workflows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver high-impact BI solutions.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across projects.
• Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in analytics development.
• 4+ years of experience with Power BI and Tableau.
• 4+ years of experience with complex data analysis.
• 4+ years of experience with ETL development and data integration.
• 2+ years of experience with data modeling.
• 2+ years of experience with automation.
• 2+ years of experience with GitHub.
• 2+ years of experience with Python.
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL.
• Experience designing and optimizing Power BI semantic models and dashboards.
• Strong understanding of data quality, validation, testing, and governance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
