Job summary

Cayuse Holdings is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to design, implement, and optimize PostgreSQL databases in a secure, enterprise environment. You will ensure data integrity, performance, and seamless integration across systems.

The role requires 8+ years of DBA work, PostgreSQL 13+, and experience with cloud migrations and observability tooling. Onsite work in the DC area is expected with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional database administration experience.
• Proven PostgreSQL (v13+) experience in medium to large deployments.
• Deep knowledge of DB design, administration, and optimization.
• Experience with scalable, secure database solutions for enterprise needs.
• Strong backup/recovery and high-availability in PostgreSQL.
• Migration experience to/from PostgreSQL, including AWS cloud services.
• Proficiency in query optimization and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases to meet business needs.
• Ensure efficient configurations and up‑to‑date database dictionaries.
• Integrate systems through robust database designs.
• Administer and test databases with PostgreSQL expertise.
• Perform thorough database testing for optimal functionality.
• Plan and implement robust security measures for data protection.
• Manage PostgreSQL environments (v13+), including patching and tuning.
• Configure backup, restore, and WAL archiving procedures.
• Configure and monitor replication for high availability.
• Migrate databases to/from PostgreSQL, incl. AWS RDS/Aurora and Oracle.
• Develop monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, and similar tools.
• Continuously monitor performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
• Other duties as assigned.
