Job summary

The State of Maryland, through the MDH Office of Pharmacy Services (OPS), seeks an Assistant Director for the Policy and Analytics (P&A) Unit to serve as the primary pharmacy policy expert and unit lead.

This role directs policy development, oversees the P&A, PPS and CS divisions, and drives strategic projects using drug utilization trends, cost containment, and budget forecasting to shape drug coverage policies. Hybrid telework is available.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of professional management experience, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising other professional staff
• Three (3) years of professional experience in clinical pharmacy, and one of the following: overseeing and coordinating the general operation of a unit, data analytics, applying rules and regulations or exercising responsibility for the development of policies and procedures
• Two (2) years of experience in monitoring emerging drug technologies, as well as, recommending and implementing drug coverage policies OR Two (2) years of experience in developing drug coverage policies using drug utilization, cost, budget limitations, and national/regional policies related to pharmacy services
• Two (2) years of Outcome/Cost-based studies experience
• Two (2) years of experience planning, initiating, and implementing innovative ideas in the Pharmacy arena

Responsibilities

• Lead the Policy and Analytics (P&A) Unit within the Office of Pharmacy Services.
• Serve as the primary pharmacy-related policy expert and oversee policy development and execution.
• Utilize drug utilization trends, budget forecasting and national/regional policies to develop drug coverage policies.
• Oversee the Pharmacists Professional Services (PPS) and the Clinical Services (CS) Divisions.
