Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead complex facilities and infrastructure development supporting national security, space exploration, and science.

You will oversee planning, design, construction, and commissioning from $100,000 to $5 million, coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, and sponsors across APL’s 450-acre campus, while ensuring schedule, budget, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with experience in planning, design, and construction of complex facilities.
• 7+ years of dynamic project management experience.
• Budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality control expertise.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal and external teams through all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Oversee multiple construction, renovation, and capital renewal projects.
• Manage procurement, budgeting, scheduling, design, construction, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships for timely performance.
• Provide regular project updates and financial reporting to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements and regulations.
