Position Overview

AE Works is seeking a Senior/Lead Plumbing / Fire Protection Designer to join our team. As a Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer at AE Works, you will be responsible for working with our multi-discipline design teams on designing plumbing and fire protection systems for building projects.

This position can be based out of either our Pittsburgh, PA office or our Arlington, VA office and comes with a competitive salary based on relevant experience as well as generous perks and benefits including medical, vision, dental, and disability insurance, generous paid time off and paid holidays, a 401k, dress-for-your-day dress code, virtual working capability, and a work-from-home equipment allowance.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Arlington, VA

Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution: Perform design and drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems for building projects, both new construction and renovation, within various market segments. Develop drawings and specifications at each project submission.
• Leadership & Team Development: Participate in meetings, internally and externally, to collaborate with other team members and clients.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate drawing sets with the project team, including in-house architects, engineers, and interior designers, as well as subconsultants.
• Client Collaboration: Travel with team members for onsite collaboration and investigations.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of relevant design experience in the building industry. Project experience in healthcare, laboratories, higher education, and government facilities preferred.
• Attributes: Exceptional communication and listening skills. Strong leadership and mentorship experience leading plumbing engineering and design projects.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Revit. High proficiency in using cloud-based and mobile technology for collaboration.
• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Certification: Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) credential preferred.
