Job Description

This role involves leading plumbing design projects, collaborating across departments, and developing innovative solutions for a variety of facilities including power, process, healthcare, and government sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead plumbing engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate with clients, project teams, and vendors to meet project needs and specifications.
• Prepare specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and coordinate data exchange with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, scopes, budgets, and staffing plans; manage change orders effectively.
• Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices in plumbing design.
• Perform quality reviews of drawings and construction documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct field inspections, resolve installation issues, and oversee testing and commissioning.
• Prepare technical reports, develop client relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead cost estimation, budgeting, and project performance reporting.
• Mentor team members and promote professional development.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and effective communication across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 7 years of plumbing engineering experience.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes (ASPE, IPC, UPC) and industry standards.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, CAD software).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) preferred.
• Willingness to travel locally and nationally (up to 25%).
