Job summary

Clayco Design and Engineering seeks a Senior Plumbing Designer to support nationwide clients, collaborating with in-house development, architecture, and construction teams on plumbing design and QA.

Projects span life science, distribution, industrial manufacturing, and food & beverage, with design work from concept through full construction documents. You will develop designs, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with IPC/UPC/IBC standards while meeting schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Associates or technical degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of related Plumbing design experience in various industrial and institutional projects.
• Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks; AutoCAD is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam.
• Solid understanding of IPC/UPC and IBC standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with design and construction teams; strong time management and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Develop plumbing designs based upon building codes, engineering principles, and industry standards.
• Perform plumbing calculations for system layout and sizing.
• Be responsible in charge of the plumbing system during design, meetings with contractors and clients.
• Complete plumbing designs meeting budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

• Collaborate with the architect, engineers/designers, and contractor from project birth through completion.
• Prepare conceptual design, schematic design, and full construction documentation drawings and specifications.

The Role We Want You For

The Senior Plumbing Designer will be working with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to provide Plumbing Design and Quality Assurance on projects for our nationwide clients.

Projects will consist of life science, distribution, industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, or other industrial process markets for existing building improvements and new construction.

The Specifics of the Role

• Develop plumbing designs based upon a strong understanding of building codes, engineering principles, and industry standards.
• Ability to perform, or assist in performing, plumbing calculations necessary for system layout and sizing.
• Perform as responsible in charge of the plumbing system answering questions and making decisions during design, contractor, and client meetings.
• Effective completion of plumbing designs meeting budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Balancing plumbing design of multiple projects of various sizes and complexity.
• Collaborate in a team environment with the architect, fellow engineers/designers, and the contractor from project birth through completion.
• Project work may include conceptual design, schematic design, and full construction documentation (drawings and specifications).

Requirements

• Associates or technical degree.

• Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks. AutoCAD is a plus.
