Job Description

We are currently hiring a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer in our Building Engineering division at our Poughkeepsie, NY office.

The Building Engineering Division at LaBella provides comprehensive building engineering services, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering. Our services range from feasibility studies and analysis to project design and construction. Our engineers are experienced in new construction, renovations, additions, analysis, special structures, and design/build projects for various clients.

The Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer will collaborate with clients to deliver plumbing and fire protection designs, studies, and technical support to meet project requirements. Typical projects involve fieldwork, design, and construction administration.

The ideal candidate will work well in a team, provide leadership to junior engineers, and have the ability to develop new business. This role offers the opportunity to advance into a leadership position within the office.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise plumbing and fire protection engineering staff to develop concepts, strategies, construction documents, and reports for new and renovation projects.
• Provide mechanical leadership for large multi-discipline design projects, including plumbing, process piping, and fire protection systems.
• Conduct code reviews of plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Design plumbing and fire protection systems for sectors such as corrections, higher education, laboratories, and medical facilities.
• Perform fire protection hydraulic calculations using industry software.
• Engage directly with clients to analyze design options, compare costs, and communicate results to aid decision-making.
• Lead project teams to meet goals and ensure quality work.
• Manage project budgets and schedules.
• Develop new business through client relationships and proposal writing.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years of experience with a professional A/E firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
• New York Professional Engineer’s License.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
