Job summary

CyberCoders, Inc. in Newton, KS is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer to design, program, and support PLC/SCADA control systems for industrial facilities. This role focuses on delivering reliable automation solutions, ensuring compliance, and supporting commissioning activities.

You will design, test, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI/SCADA projects, collaborate across teams, and develop construction documentation to meet NFPA/NEC standards while coordinating with vendors and integrators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with Automation/Controls Engineering.
• Strong Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC experience; Fanuc a plus.
• Knowledge of HMI/SCADA, Ethernet, Modbus, DeviceNet, and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70, NEC, and electrical standards.
• Experience with industrial, agricultural, mission-critical, or commercial systems.
• Controls design, QA, and FAT/SAT commissioning experience.
• Controls, PLC, or automation certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
• Test, troubleshoot, and commission control systems
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams
• Develop control documentation, specifications, and test plans
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, and safety standards
• Support FAT/SAT, startup, and system optimization
• Work with industrial networks and communication protocols
• Review and update drawings using Bluebeam
• Provide technical input on controls design and architecture
• Coordinate with vendors and integrators on equipment and updates
