Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. is seeking a Controls Technician II to analyze requests, install and maintain automated control systems in a heavy industry setting. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and program controllers, ensuring reliable production and safety.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial environments, a strong electrical background, and 2–3 years as a Controls Technician I. CAD and CMMS familiarity are highly valued, with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Strong machine electrical background and understanding of control systems.
• 2–3 years working as a Controls Technician I.
• Able to read electrical drawings and schematics; CAD experience preferred.
• Computer literacy and ability to use CMMS for maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform maintenance on complex control systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and repair equipment and instrumentation.
• Upgrade control software and hardware; manage online/offline changes.
• Collaborate with electricians, engineers, and maintenance staff on projects.
• Maintain safety standards and environmental compliance in daily tasks.
