Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. is seeking a Controls Technician II to join our maintenance team. The role focuses on planning, installing, and maintaining complex control systems in a heavy industrial setting, with emphasis on PLC/HMI programming and instrument calibration.

The position requires a strong machine electrical background, five or more years of industrial experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD and CMMS to manage work orders and preventative maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with a strong machine electrical background.
• 2–3 years working as a Controls Technician I.
• Must possess computer literacy and basic maintenance training.

Responsabilités

• Analyze job requests for priority, material requirements and scope of project.
• Install, modify, monitor, troubleshoot and repair highly automated control equipment.
• Design, plan, install and maintain industrial control equipment and instrumentation (loop controls, VFDs, panels).
• Use diagnostic tooling (DVMs, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters) and support PLC/HMI changes.
• Coordinate with other departments on new installations and upgrades.
