Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Senior Manager, Platform Security to lead our Platform Security team in the United States. You will architect security solutions, mentor engineers, and drive secure-by-design practices across cloud-native platforms.

You’ll stay hands-on with code and IaC, shaping roadmaps, policies, and partnerships while guiding security maturity and alignment with business goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience leading cloud-native engineering or security teams.
• 10+ years of direct, technical experience in Platform Engineering or Security with hands-on coding/IaC in the last 2–3 years.
• Strong experience in AWS, EKS (Kubernetes), IAM, Terraform, GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
• Experience leveraging security frameworks and standards that mature the security program.
• Comfortable with hiring and scaling a team.
• Proven ability to lead through organizational change; startup experience preferred.
• Able to communicate with technical stakeholders at their level; translate needs into outcomes.
• Pragmatic about security requirements, focusing on business value.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership of Gemini's Platform Security team, architecting solutions with engineers—writing Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and security tooling code.
• Align team-wide strategy with business needs, internal partners, and Security leadership.
• Enable team growth through hiring plans and hands-on mentorship, reviewing designs and PRs.
• Establish a Platform Security roadmap to mature capabilities and reduce toil through automation.
• Serve as escalation point for hard architecture problems; contribute code/IaC when needed.
• Foster trust-based relationships with partner teams to achieve security outcomes.
• Lead development of security policies, standards, and guidelines for audits.
• Define program KPIs to measure success and guide improvement.
• Provide architectural guidance and practical security decisions for complex projects.
• Define customer-first processes with self-service solutions to reduce friction.
• Manage third-party vendor relationships and decision to build vs buy.
