Job summary

Maven is a market-leading trading firm leveraging its own capital across discretionary, systematic, and market-making strategies. The Platform Engineering team runs 22 Kubernetes clusters across regions, providing hosted environments and a path to production for 44 desks.

Based in Chicago, this Senior Platform Engineer role focuses on building scalable, auditable processes and tools so traders and developers can operate with minimal handoffs.

Qualifications

• Approximately six years in a platform, SRE, DevOps or development role; depth over years.
• Comfortable collaborating with traders, researchers and developers.
• Ability to say no when requests are not optimal and steer to better solutions.
• Experience deploying and debugging production Kubernetes; incident handling.
• Proficiency with GitOps tooling: ArgoCD, Helm and Kustomize; Terraform experience a plus.
• Ability to write automation code; Python as primary and Go as secondary.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Chicago teams to translate needs into platform requirements.
• Design improvements for hosted developer environments and production paths.
• Promote consistent standards across repos; avoid forks and local deviations.
• Coordinate across time zones to prevent delays in London and elsewhere.
• Be available during US hours for deployments and critical incidents.
• Work with Linux, networking and storage teams on cross-cutting issues.
