Job summary

Coinbase is a remote-first company with in-person quarterly surges. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to own compute orchestration infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers, built on Kubernetes and Istio, and to design tooling, automation, and new capabilities for scalable, secure deployments.

You will partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise the bar, implementing AI-driven workflows and self-healing platform enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar compute orchestration systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP infrastructure services in production at scale.
• Familiarity with CNCF ecosystem tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy).
• Experience applying AI tooling to infrastructure workflows and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation at scale.
• Develop developer-facing tooling and workflows for Kubernetes usage, incl. AI-driven processes.
• Deliver new compute capabilities for service owners (jobs, cron, deployment strategies, etc.).
• Drive operational excellence by automating toil and improving observability and incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet standards.
