Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform team. You will own the core orchestration infra that powers many services, built atop Kubernetes, Istio, and CNCF tools.

You’ll design and ship tooling that makes it easy for hundreds of engineers to deploy and operate critical services at scale. You will integrate AI-driven processes to automate workflows, reduce toil, and raise platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP infrastructure services in production at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and operate distributed infrastructure systems.
• Hands-on experience with CNCF ecosystem tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) and applying them to infra problems.
• Proven ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows to improve automation and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows to interact with Kubernetes, with AI-driven processes.
• Deliver new compute capabilities for service owners, such as one-off jobs and cron scheduling.
• Drive operational excellence by automating toil and improving observability and incident response.
• Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet security and uptime standards.
