Job summary

Normal Computing is an applied AI company building foundational hardware and software for the semiconductor industry and AI infrastructure. The Platform Engineer will own and evolve critical infrastructure, spanning Linux systems, networking, storage, security, and automation, with regular on-site presence in Mountain View and travel to New York.

You’ll work across multiple locations to design, deploy, and maintain robust infrastructure for a fast-growing startup.

Qualifications

• Senior hands-on platform engineering with deep systems knowledge across Linux, BSD, networking, storage and security.
• Strong automation, deployment, and observability experience and open-source toolchains.
• Proficient in scripting and Infrastructure as Code, able to own critical infrastructure end-to-end.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup environment and collaborate across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and improve critical infrastructure and internal systems across Normal.
• Build and maintain physical network and server infrastructure.
• Design and implement reliable, maintainable, and secure infrastructure across a broad surface area.
• Diagnose complex systems issues spanning Linux, networking, storage, security, and deployment infra.
• Automate operational workflows while understanding the underlying systems.
• Make safe, high-impact changes to production and company infrastructure.
• Improve reliability, observability, maintainability, and security of systems.
• Evaluate, deploy, and contribute to open-source infrastructure technologies.
• Build documentation and operational practices for scalable knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with engineers to tackle infrastructure challenges and support growth.
