Job summary

Sixth Street is seeking a Senior Software Architect to join the Core Engineering team in Austin or Dallas. This hands-on leadership role focuses on data pipelines, APIs, SOA, and building shared platform capabilities that scale across engineering teams.

You will champion golden paths, mentor engineers, participate in design reviews, and translate complex requirements into robust, reusable solutions while balancing business outcomes in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional software development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred.
• Excellent programming skills in more than one major language; Python/Java preferred.
• Strong experience with CI/CD and shipping well-engineered code.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with relational and NoSQL data stores.
• Comfortable in a Unix shell and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design Partnership: Collaborate with development teams on architectural decisions and provide practical feedback.
• Golden Path Advocacy: Shape and drive adoption of platform standards reflecting real delivery needs.
• Platform Bridge: Translate recurring delivery friction into shared capabilities or libraries.
• Mentor and influence teams on architectural principles and trade-offs; guide senior engineers and tech leads.
• Hands-on technical leadership: participate in design reviews, prototyping, and investigations.
• Identify recurring architectural problems and determine shared vs team-specific solutions.
