Your Impact

As a Platform Engineer at Axon, you’ll support our core infrastructure and internal tooling, blending hands-on system administration with deep ownership of our Atlassian ecosystem. You’ll manage and evolve Jira across three tenant instances while ensuring the reliability and scalability of our server environments. This is a hybrid role that offers a unique opportunity to grow into DevOps and automation initiatives as we continue to scale.

What You’ll Do

• Location: This role requires you to be based within commutable distance to one of our main R&D US hubs (Scottsdale, AZ; Boston, MA; Seattle, WA; Atlanta, GA; or San Francisco); occasional onsite work as needed.
• Reports to: Sr. Manager, Global Infrastructure
• Direct Reports: None
• Administer and support Axon's server infrastructure, including physical and virtual machines (VMware), storage systems, backup solutions, and core services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
• Manage Jira across three tenant environments — including users, permissions, workflows, custom fields, automation, and integrations.
• Support platforms such as Confluence, Jira Service Management, and Atlassian Access.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Business Operations teams to improve tools and processes within Jira and internal systems.
• Automate routine system and platform tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Monitor system performance and application health to ensure high availability.
• Participate in infrastructure planning, patching, and upgrades in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Document configurations, standards, and processes for maintainability and knowledge sharing.
• Work with Engineering and Platform teams on initiatives like CI/CD tooling, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps workflows.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in system administration or infrastructure roles supporting Windows and/or Linux.
• 2+ years managing Jira in a professional setting, preferably across complex or multi-tenant instances.
• Strong knowledge of Atlassian platform administration, including permissions, workflows, user management, and automation.
• Experience with Confluence, Jira Service Management, Atlassian Access, or similar tools is a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Interest or experience in DevOps tools and concepts (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform).
