Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) seeks a Senior Platform Software Engineer in Nashville to build backend platform components, APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks used by OCI services and customers. You will own a platform area, evolve contracts and versioning, and ensure secure multi-tenant use.

You will diagnose complex issues across distributed services, improve availability and performance, and collaborate with OCI engineers to drive adoption, while producing high-quality documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software-development experience; advanced degree holders may have fewer years of experience.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented or systems programming language (Java, C++, C#, Go).
• Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, microservices, SDKs, or developer-facing platform capabilities.
• Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OO design, and secure software development practices.
• Experience with API design, integration, versioning, testing, source control, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate backend platform components, APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks used by OCI services and customers.
• Own a defined platform area and evolve its contracts, versioning, and interoperability for secure, multi-tenant use.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues across distributed services; provide compatibility-safe fixes and upgrade paths.
• Improve availability, performance, capacity, and operability through resilience patterns, monitoring, logging, and automation.
• Partner with OCI engineers to understand needs, review designs and code, and guide platform adoption.
• Create high-quality documentation, samples, and operational guidance for platform consumers.
• Participate in service support and continuous-improvement efforts, including incident investigation.
