Job summary

HP IQ is HP's new AI innovation lab, building intelligent technologies that redefine how the world works, creates, and collaborates. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will help build and evolve the infrastructure, tooling, and shared platform capabilities that enable our engineering teams to develop and operate reliable, secure, and scalable services across cloud and edge environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, Production Engineering, or a similar role.
• Experience building and operating production systems across cloud, on-prem, or edge environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and deployment automation.
• Experience with CI/CD and modern observability practices.
• Strong software development and automation skills, preferably in Python or a similar language.
• Strong understanding of security, reliability, and production operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems across application, infrastructure, network, and hardware boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain shared infrastructure and platform capabilities across cloud and edge environments.
• Build automation and self-service tooling that improves engineering velocity and operational consistency.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, deployment workflows, and environment provisioning.
• Partner with engineering teams on production readiness, including reliability, security, observability, scalability, and recovery.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational tooling across distributed environments.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks and reduce infrastructure complexity.
• Help define platform architecture, engineering standards, and technical roadmaps.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for systems owned by the team.

About The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer at HP IQ, you will help build and evolve the infrastructure, tooling, and shared platform capabilities that enable our engineering teams to develop and operate reliable, secure, and scalable services across cloud and edge environments.

You will work closely with application, services, AI/ML, and security teams to improve developer velocity, production readiness, reliability, and operational efficiency across a heterogeneous infrastructure footprint.

What You Might Do

• Design, build, and maintain shared infrastructure and platform capabilities across cloud and edge environments.


• Build automation and self-service tooling that improves engineering velocity and operational consistency.


• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, deployment workflows, and environment provisioning.


• Partner with engineering teams on production readiness, including reliability, security, observability, scalability, and recovery.

Essential Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, Production Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role.


• Strong experience building and operating production systems across cloud, on-prem, or edge environments.


• Experience with containers, Kubernetes, networking, and distributed systems.


• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and deployment automation.


• Experience with CI/CD and modern observability practices.


• Strong software development and automation skills, preferably in Python or a similar language.


• Strong understanding of security, reliability, and production operations.


• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems across application, infrastructure, network, and hardware boundaries.

Preferred Skills

• Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure.


• Experience operating distributed systems across cloud and edge environments.


• Experience with secrets management, identity, PKI, or infrastructure security.


• Experience with highly available systems, distributed databases, and production data infrastructure.


• Experience partnering with application teams to improve architecture and production readiness.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $149,900 - $270,000

Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time Employees)

The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
