The HT Group is seeking a Senior Platform/Backend Engineer in the Round Rock, TX area for a full-time, direct-hire role. This remote/hybrid position requires onsite presence in Round Rock as needed; candidates within 50 miles are encouraged to apply.

You will design and build backend data-platform components to ingest, process, store, and export high-volume telemetry data, guiding engineering standards and providing mentorship to the growing team.

Competenze

• Five+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend or distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Python; strong in at least one.
• Experience designing distributed services with concurrency, retries, idempotency, failure recovery, and scaling.
• Production APIs with Protobuf and gRPC including versioning and authentication.
• Strong relational database skills, data modeling, migrations, indexing, performance tuning.
• Experience with S3-compatible storage and data lake/ETL/time-series systems.
• Containerized deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm; CI/CD automation.
• Security and reliability practices including IAM, RBAC, observability, incident troubleshooting.
• Ability to translate requirements into production-quality code and docs.
• Excellent communication and ability to mentor.

• Develop and implement core backend and data-platform services.
• Create stable service and API contracts using Protobuf and gRPC.
• Design relational database schemas for data management and state.
• Build and optimize ingestion workflows for high-volume telemetry data.
• Develop scalable asynchronous workers and distributed job processing.
• Implement secure data upload/download and object-management workflows.
• Establish automated testing across unit, integration, contract, load, and failure-mode tests.
• Support troubleshooting, incident response, and production reliability.
• Implement platform observability through centralized logging, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and user-facing job-status information.
• Package, deploy, and operate cloud-native, containerized services.
• Collaborate with frontend, machine learning, product, and infrastructure teams.
• Document APIs, data contracts, deployment procedures, and runbooks.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and help establish standards.
• Ensure platform services meet security requirements and organizational policies.
