Job summary

PetDesk is seeking a Principal Engineer to set technical direction and own long-term architecture of our platform in the United States. You will lead high-impact initiatives, partner with Engineering, Product, Operations, and business stakeholders, and ensure systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience with leadership at staff/principal level.
• Deep expertise in .NET, distributed systems, APIs, and data-intensive apps.
• Experience building complex third-party integrations in healthcare or SaaS ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, event-driven design, and cloud-native development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical vision, architecture, and long-term engineering strategy for the PetDesk platform.
• Design and evolve a platform supporting integrations across dozens of third-party systems with reliability.
• Architect data pipelines, APIs, and services enabling data exchange among clinics, owners, manufacturers, and partners.
• Translate market opportunities and customer needs into scalable technical solutions aligned to roadmaps.
• Drive architectural decisions balancing speed, flexibility, maintainability and health.
• Identify operational efficiencies and improve platform reliability and throughput with Operations.
• Oversee end-to-end execution of key initiatives with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery.
• Serve as technical point of contact for external stakeholders including clinics, manufacturers, and partners.
• Participate in architecture reviews and provide hands-on guidance for complex initiatives across teams.
• Mitigate technical risks from integrations, data quality, and performance before impacting customers.
