Job summary

Pfizer seeks a Senior Director, Principal Technical Architect to lead technical strategy and architecture for a key Pfizer Digital Platform. You will guide architecture decisions, ensure security and scalability, and partner with business and digital leaders to deliver measurable value at global scale.

The role requires hands-on leadership across engineering teams, with a focus on modern engineering practices, AI-enabled delivery, and governance in a regulated enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; 12+ years of senior engineering and technical leadership in enterprise platforms, cloud, or large-scale delivery.
• Demonstrated experience owning the technical strategy and architecture of a significant platform, product, or technology domain.
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams, including engineers, architects, and technical leads.
• Deep hands-on technical expertise in modern engineering practices, cloud platforms, data and integration patterns, APIs, security, and reliability.
• Experience partnering with senior business and Digital stakeholders to shape technical direction, investment choices, and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy for the Platform, aligning business priorities, enterprise standards, and emerging technology into a clear roadmap and target architecture.
• Serve as the design authority for the Platform, defining target architecture, standards, and integration patterns for enterprise scale.
• Lead and develop the engineering team(s) that build and operate the Platform, ensuring modern, secure, scalable, and reusable capabilities.
• Partner with senior business and Digital leaders, product owners, and divisional teams to translate ambiguous needs into practical technical choices and measurable outcomes.
• Define how AI, automation, and modern practices are applied to accelerate delivery while maintaining governance and verification.
• Build and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, credibility, partnership, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Establish and uphold reliability, security, documentation, and operational excellence across the Platform, ensuring compliance and resilience.
