Job summary

IPL Schoeller is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to lead design, development and commercialization of plastic packaging solutions from concept through production. The role partners with R&D, manufacturing, quality and commercial teams and requires travel ~20% with base in the United States or Canada.

The candidate will design packaging using CAD, select materials, validate performance, and drive cost reductions while sustaining quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years in plastics packaging product engineering or development.
• Experience designing, developing, and commercializing packaging products.
• Strong knowledge of polymer science and plastics processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plastic packaging products using CAD tools.
• Select materials and validate performance through testing and analysis.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability across injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and blow molding.
• Lead prototype development, validation, and commercialization efforts.
• Drive cost reduction and process improvements while maintaining quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specs.
• Partner cross-functionally with R&D, operations, quality, sales, and customers on projects.
• Support customer-facing activities, including technical presentations and customized solutions.
• Champion sustainability initiatives in recyclable packaging solutions.
