Senior Production Supervisor (Mfg Fabrication and Welding Plant) - $7,000 sign-on bonus!!!

This position requires the candidate to be available to work in-person in our Bolingbrook, IL facility.

Candidates must have supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with fabrication and welding.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor oversees daily production functions and personnel to meet on-time delivery while ensuring quality and profitability. Responsibilities include organizing workflows, analyzing manufacturing efficiency, and implementing Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and operational expertise.

Position Responsibilities

• Coach, train, and mentor team members on work processes, instructions, and performance. Responsible for hiring, onboarding, evaluation, training, and development.
• Train staff on safe operation of production and packaging equipment including CNC Mills, CNC Lathe, MIG/TIG welders, saws, hydraulic presses, etc., following safety policies.
• Coordinate with supply chain, production planning, and warehouse teams to review schedules and ensure on-time shipments.
• Collaborate to optimize productivity and efficiency.
• Develop work cell accountability, set targets, and monitor progress using visual boards, charts, and Gemba walks.
• Lead Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance production.
• Set up work cells considering ergonomics, flexibility, and throughput.
• Monitor production output and quality according to specifications.
• Prepare and present production reports and progress updates to management.
• Use Root Cause Analysis to identify issues and implement solutions.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of production equipment.
• Resolve issues causing production delays.
• Create and maintain training materials, processes, and work instructions.
• Ensure daily machinery inspections are completed and communicate nonconformance issues.
• Manage 5S housekeeping tasks, ensuring cleanliness and organization of work areas.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; skilled trades certifications are a plus.
• 5-7 years of production experience, preferably in welding and machining, with 3+ years in supervision.
• Experience with work cell data collection and productivity metrics is desirable.
• Knowledge of welding and machining, experience with Haas CNC mills and lathes.
• Understanding of industrial safety protocols (5S, ergonomics, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Flexibility for multi-shift work and overtime.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Effective communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Team player with a proactive attitude and strong organizational skills.
• Customer-focused and results-driven.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000
