Job summary

Biogen is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer II to provide technical engineering support for critical plant utilities and facility systems across manufacturing areas, laboratories, and supporting buildings. You will troubleshoot complex equipment issues, lead commissioning activities, and manage small engineering projects with limited oversight.

The role requires collaboration with Utilities, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 6 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with plant utilities or facility equipment systems.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment and utility systems.
• Experience with equipment commissioning, qualification or validation.
• Ability to develop technical specifications and assess equipment requirements.
• Ability to investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for plant utility and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment systems and building management automation.
• Lead or support design, installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment.
• Develop user requirements specifications and commissioning/qualification protocols.
• Support capital and OPEX projects from scoping to validation.
• Investigate failures and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Onboard new equipment into CMMS per site procedures.
• Manage small projects, schedules, risks, and deliverables with limited direction.
• Direct contractors and represent Plant Engineering in cross-functional discussions.
• Develop or update procedures for equipment and systems.
