Job summary

Fluidstack is building frontier compute infrastructure with autonomous plant control across PV, BESS and thermal blocks. You will own the EMS/plant controller, design end-to-end sequences of operation, and ensure robust testing with hardware-in-the-loop.

Qualifications

• Experience owning the plant controller or EMS on a utility-scale hybrid plant with PV, BESS and/or thermal generation.
• Written sequences of operation for source transitions, blackstart or islanding and stood on site when they ran against energized equipment.
• Shipped control software as a product, version-controlled, tested and released to running plants.
• Brought in a third-party controller or component into a live plant to hit a date and later replaced it with your own code.
• Designed interfaces between control systems with defined data, timing and failure behavior.
• Tuned plant frequency and voltage response and explained trade-offs of settings.
• Clear writing that communicates decisions to OEM controls engineers, commissioning agents and CEOs.
• Bonus: islanded or weak-grid operation, RTDS/OPAL-RT/Typhoon HIL, and experience with control platforms (FlexGen HybridOS, Tesla, Schneider EcoStruxure, SEL RTAC)

Responsibilities

• Own the EMS/control stack for multi-block hybrid plants (PV, BESS, thermal) and scale to GW campuses.
• Translate the control philosophy into sequences of operation our code executes across all modes.
• Hold the generation side of the contract between the plant and data center across many blocks.
• Decide which components to bring in and replace with in-house code on a planned schedule.
• Build a plant model library and hardware-in-the-loop bench for testing controllers.
• Lead controls commissioning and tuning in the field with real AI load profiles.
• Hire and mentor controls software and test engineers; align with project milestones.
