Job summary

The City of Chico seeks a Senior Plans Examiner to supervise the plan review of residential, commercial and industrial building construction. The role includes coordinating plan checks, ensuring compliance with building codes, and guiding engineering and planning staff to timely reviews.

Familiarity with permitting software and fees is preferred. Ideal candidates have extensive plan review experience, knowledge of California Building Code, and ICC certifications.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in design or review of building construction plans or four years’ experience performing plan checking for a public agency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise all plan review for residential, commercial and industrial building construction.
• Schedule and coordinate plan check work for building safety personnel and coordinate with engineering and planning staff to ensure timely reviews.
• Develop and conduct training programs for Building Division personnel.
• Assist in budget preparation and policy decisions.
