The City of Indianapolis is seeking a planning professional to support the Division of Planning with zoning and land use petitions. You will provide information to citizen decision-making bodies and collaborate with boards and commissions.

The role emphasizes research, site visits, and coordination with petitioners and neighborhood groups. Strong writing, public speaking, and ArcMap/Microsoft Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in city planning or related field; APA accredited preferred.
• Two years of experience in planning and zoning agency; master’s degree may substitute.
• Thorough understanding of land use terminology, zoning principles and current land use law.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft software and ArcMap required.
• Excellent writing and public speaking skills required.

Responsabilités

• Draft blurbs of filed requests for legal advertisement and mailed notification.
• Review legal notices for accuracy.
• Review petition file contents for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct site visits and document findings with photos.
• Present initial research at weekly staff meetings.
• Prepare staff report packets for petitioners.
• Present staff findings at public hearings.
