Job summary

Town Of Zionsville in Indiana seeks a Senior Planner to work under the Director of Planning and Building, supervising professional and technical staff on zoning, subdivision, and Board of Zoning Appeals petitions.

The Senior Planner will manage complex projects, ensure policy adherence, and provide guidance to staff and the public, with a strong emphasis on customer service and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, landscape architecture, or a related field of study.
• Minimum of eight to ten years of urban planning experience including supervisory responsibility.
• Two years’ experience in community development.
• Certification from national accredited program desired (APA AICP, IEDC CEcD, or similar).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local development regulations.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with officials, staff and other decision-makers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review planning petitions and related procedures.
• Review and facilitate appeals of town road and park impact fees.
• Coordinate and review with management, outside agencies and Town departments.
• Develop and improve policies and procedures; monitor activities for compliance.
• Coordinate review of development proposals from conceptual design to final construction.
• Prepare and present staff reports to Boards, Commissions, and Committees.
