Job summary

The County of San Diego's Planning & Development Services (PDS) seeks a Senior Planner to lead complex land use and environmental planning initiatives across Project Planning and Long Range Planning divisions. You will research, prepare plans and memos, and present findings to the Planning Commission and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree (or master’s) in a related field and substantial professional planning experience, including CEQA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in city/regional planning, urban planning, or related field and three years of professional planning experience.
• Master’s degree in affected field with two years of professional planning experience.
• One year of experience as an Associate Planner with the County of San Diego.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex discretionary planning projects and prepare reports for boards and commissions.
• Coordinate with multiple divisions and departments on land use and environmental topics.
• Present findings to advisory boards, elected officials, and the public.
• Ensure compliance with CEQA and related environmental regulations.
